Dedication of PAX Women's Center in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

"Today was the opening ceremony for the PAX Women’s Center. It was a long time coming, but it was a complex project". Contributions from SPC, including more than $4,000 raised through the 2019 "Alternative Christmas Gift" program, helped to make this possible.

Update on Faith and Fossil Fuel Divestment Discussion

On Sunday, February 9, the SPC Earth Care team sponsored an informative discussion regarding the PCUSA and fossil fuel divestment with guest speaker Bill McKibben (who participated online).  Approximately 45 people were present at SPC while additional participants joined from the Shenandoah Presbytery and other locations via video conference. Bill McKibben described the urgent challenge of confronting climate change and the importance for organizations to divest from fossil fuels. 


The film chronicles Stevenson’s work in Alabama, birthplace of the civil rights movement and home to the Equal Justice Initiative, as well as the early influences that drove him to become an advocate for the poor and the incarcerated.

Conversations Around Race, Privilege and Faith Continue at SPC

“Antiracist effort is not optional for Christians. It is an essential aspect of Christian discipleship” So declares the churchwide antiracism policy adopted by the 2016 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, USA, entitled Facing Racism: A Vision of Intercultural Community.

For the first time in twenty years, on Sunday, January 12, 3pm, a new pastor will be installed at Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church in Shepherdstown, WV. This service of worship will formally establish the pastoral relationship between The Reverend Gusti Linnea Newquist and the historic Presbyterian congregation.
