National Give OUT Day

This Tuesday, August 2 is Give OUT Day, the ONLY national day of giving for the LGBTQ community – a 24-hour online fundraising event that unites the LGBTQ community from all 50 states, DC, and Puerto Rico to raise critically needed funds. Since its inception in 2013, over 15,000 individual donors have contributed more than $2.4 million and supported more than 500 different organizations in every part of the country.  Throughout the day-long event, thousands of people make gifts to support a vast array of LGBTQ nonprofits across the country, ranging from the arts to social services agencies, advocacy groups to sports leagues, community centers to health care nonprofits, and this year, for the first time, More Light Presbyterians.
Supporting MLP on GiveOUT day is not just about financial resources, but also lifting MLP’s profile as a specifically faith based organization joining together with all with those secular partners; it serves as a reminder of the importance that the progressive religious witness can have in advancing equality and justice.
MLP is a non profit that does rely on the generosity of donors to keep its work and witness strong-- MLP had a lot to do with making marriage equality possible in the PCUSA, and is currently working on all kinds of training, education and advocacy efforts nationwide; as we all know, we’ve made great strides in the least few years in the work of equality, but the backlash has been fierce and there is still lots more work to do.
If you are already a member of MLP but haven’t gotten around to your donation this year, or if you think you would like to become a financial supporter for the first time, please consider doing so this Tues. on GiveOUT day.  You can schedule your donation here:
